A dear friend recently found her unlined custom cafe panels in shreds after only two years of use! Although she was disappointed with the loss, she was ready to embrace a new look for her breakfast nook. Off I went with fabric books galore to help her identify what this “new look” was to be.
After much consideration and debate she chose this lovely neutral geometric pattern giving her some flair, and an update, but working with the existing color palette in the rest of the open floor plan.
To do the door in the same pattern seemed a little overwhelming since it was so close so we did a coordinating solid with lots of slubs and texture and a band of the cafe panel material at the top.
It turned out lovely…. I love the more casual “french pleat”. It’s still tailored but has a more casual look to it.
* bonus** these cafe panels now have a “dim out” lining, meaning they should last as long as she wants them in the window. (but more about the importance of lining in another post) I can’t wait to get started on the rest of the house soon!
